This is an illustration of a specific grasshopper species that I created for my IMS 259 (Art and Digital Tools) class. The illustration was made for a project where I was to draw some sort of insect, spider, or other bug in order to see how my Adobe Illustrator skills synthesized over my time using the software. This illustration was based mostly off reality, but I used some artistic license to make the grasshopper's eyes and forewings(?) red. I used gradients to give the grasshopper more dimensionality, I used the Width tool a lot to further increase the grasshopper's dimensionality as well as to create small details, and I also used a blur to create the effect that the grasshopper is flying on swiftly.
